Chase Elliott was leading the race when he had a right side rear tire go down and it took his race car into the wall that caused the race car to catch fire. Chase climbed out of the car as his day was over. Putting Chase in a spot where he needs all but a win next week to advance to the next round of the playoffs.
Chase’s car having tire issues was not unique to him, as many other drivers found there tires giving out and their car crashing as a result.
This continued to raise questions about the safety of the new car being used this year by all Cup Series NASCAR teams. Yet, Goodyear had let the teams know that they had issues with the tire this week at Texas.
More to come on the NASCAR playoffs.
