Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees has 59 Home Runs with 16 games left in the regular season.
Roger Maris holds the American League regular season record of 61 home runs. He hit those in 1961. He held the record for both the American League and National League until Mark McGwire 70 in 1998 and then Barry Bonds 73 in 2001 broke the Major League home run record. Yet, many believe those records, by McGwire and Bonds, are tainted by performance enhancing drugs, steroids, during those seasons.
Aaron Judges pursuit of Yankee, American League and Major League baseball history has been a special story to watch this year.
Triple Crown
Aaron is leading substantially in home runs and Runs Batted In (RBIs) in the American League. He has also raised his batting average and now is in contention for the triple crown of leading the American League in these three categories: home runs, runs batted in and batting average. The last Yankee to win the Triple Crown as Mickey Mantle in 1956.
