This album would go double platinum and be a huge success. Yet, when it was released it was a major evolution from the groups previous albums. It embraced the grunge, alternative music style make popular in the mid-90s and highlighted the production leadership of TobyMac, yet maybe not appreciated till much later. The album features the dc Talk formulator in full force, TobyMac produced a masterpiece by penning cleaver songs that he had his vocals Michael Tait and Kevin Max carry the album. Toby’s rap verses are not here as in previous ablums, just shades of it in specific areas to bridge songs. Yet, it is prominent on the title track Jesus Freak, which would rally a generation of youth groups to this album.
